Advent concert with a Styria focus

The male choir of former members of the Vienna Boys' Choir, conducted by Michael Schneider, presents a varied concert programme featuring Advent and Christmas carols from Styria as well as modern Christmas songs in barbershop style. Maria Suntinger demonstrates her versatility as a musician on the Styrian harmonica and the organ. In between, touching poems are recited by the narrator Silvana Veit.
A Styrian touch can be heard in folk songs such as ‘O Jubel, o Freud’ or ‘Is finster draußt’ and the ‘Glockenjodler’. As a counterpoint to this, the programme includes rousing arrangements and lively classics such as ‘Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree’ and ‘Look up, children’. This creates a bridge from the quiet Advent season to a joyful Christmas. A concert full of warmth, timbre and anticipation for the most wonderful time of the year – carried by the distinctive voices of the Chorus Viennensis.
