In order to develop his musical skills, Michael Schneider began a preparatory course in piano at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, followed by lessons in singing and conducting. He continued his academic education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). He studied choral and orchestral conducting, graduating with honors in both.
He was a member of the Salzburg Bach Choir as well as the Vienna Singverein for many years and has assisted the artistic directors in their rehearsal work on many occasions.
In 2017, Michael Schneider was engaged by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra as choral director for the China tour to rehearse the choirs there for Beethoven's 9th Symphony under Philippe Jordan.
Since 2017, he has been choral director of the Klosterneuburg Opera.
At the Institute for Music Conducting at the mdw, Michael Schneider holds a teaching position since 2020.
